…in the end. The "Great Gatsby" died for Daisy. No one attends Gatsby's funeral except his father and Nick, and it wasn't because of the rain. These are the only two people who truly know Gatsby. This shows that for all that he did, he never asked for anything in return. As the owl-eyed man said, "Blessed are the dead that the rain falls on." (183) All of this is what makes the "Great Gatsby" great.
