What is a Human Being?
There are three main viewpoints in argument on what a human being is. Those viewpoints are empirical, rational and metaphorical. Empiricists base their views on observation and experimentation. Rationalists rely on reason as the best guide for belief and action. A metaphorical person tests the validity of his views in terms of the universality of his insight or awareness. This can be expressed by poetry, novels, plays, paintings and sculptures.

If I have faith in God I am promised a place in heaven. By believing in the metaphorical perspective one is taught to have high moral standards, compassion, generosity and integrity. Even though I believe that we will not be able to discover which of the viewpoints is positively correct in determining what a human being is, I will heed to the metaphorical viewpoint as it makes me a better person both morally and spiritually.
