The River and Upland Yumans are two large groups of tribes found throughout Arizona and the southwest. The Patayan are the prehistoric ancestors of both the Upland and River Yumans yet their locations changed over time, as well as their subsistence pattern. Fort McDowell Reservation in Phoenix, Arizona, which is the largest Yavapai reservation. The Camp Verde Reservation is second largest, and home to many Yavapai and Apache near Sedona, Arizona. The last tribe allotted to the Upland Yumans was the Yavapai Prescott Indian Tribe located around Prescott, Arizona.
