The topic of self esteem is anther issue Wolfe tends to visit. All the characters we looked at had negative thoughts about themselves and it hurt them in the end. I guess Wolfe is trying to say self pity leads to nothing except a lot of sadness. The fact that so many lessons can be learned from this book and Wolfe still keeps it an entertaining story makes this truly worthwhile and incredible to read.
