Douglas MacArthur was born into the military on January 26, 1880 in Little Rock, Arkansas. His father Arthur MacArthur earned the Congressional Medal of Honor in the Civil War for leading an assault up Missionary Ridge in Tennessee, and was a military governor of the Philippines.
