The Hour Glass
The hourglass - an emblem of human life. It symbolizes the eternal passage of time, the sand slipping away until there is no more, and therefore a continual reminder that life is finite, and therefore we should make the most of it while we can.

I suddenly saw a realization in the hourglass that I had never seen before. Of how precious everything in my life was. Or how much value it all holds for me. That I would not let my life pass by without appreciating each day. A lesson that one learns when more than half of ones life is over. So does life not remind you of the hourglass?
