But eventually Americans would lose hope. After the Tet Offensive everyone realized that America was in the middle of a futile and insurmountable war. Everyone wanted out, immediately. America struggled in coming to an "honorable" end. The Tet Offensive occurred in 1968 but America would not be done with the war until 1973. Even so, they did eventually get out of the war, but not with out losing 58,000 American lives and the trust of the American people.
