Even though his actions towards the men were unreasonably and rude, he believed he had to act in such a way in hopes to get his point across. Even though he entered the dining hall with hopes of helping someone, he really only hurt himself and his friend even more by proving himself to be a flat character- unable to change under any circumstances.
