First with World War 1, immediately followed by the Great Depression, they were faced with their biggest challenges to shape the country and secure its future. The Australian people suffered enormous hardship but continued to push forward avoiding the temptations of communism and fascism, allowing democracy to maintain the control of power and engage policies to secure the countries growth and prosperity.
