The confidence that they indeed had the power to make a change. Martin Luther King Jr. would come out of this as the great hero. The one who stood for what was right and what would ultimately come out as victorious. This was a struggle that brought the black community together. They learned how to overcome oppression, fear, and downfall. Their weaknesses were set aside and their power displayed. A new South had been created.
