Duncan. He realizes that there is no reason to kill him other than his own ambition, which is not a rational one. Lady Macbeth is outraged when she hears wat Macbeth has to say and tells him her plan: while Duncan sleeps, she will give his chamberlains wine to make them drunk, and then they can slip in and murder Duncan.
