…Nero scorns the Juvenalian Games as "parum celebris" for "tantae voci" - he has clearly fallen for the flattery of his courtiers and believes himself talented. The sarcasm implicit in Tacitus' account invites mockery, and sets-up Nero as a risible performer and emperor.
