They usually portray librarians with a mixture of judgmental attitudes, bookishness, and timidity. The stereotype is not unique to any particular era or genre. It has not changed much over time and many think that it will not vanish. Librarians will still be seen as prim, stuffy old maids rather than the sweet and young beautiful people they really are.
