Adam and Eve's betrayal makes his decision seem a little more rational. Abraham clearly existed and had a long bloodline that went through the Prophet of Islam Muhammed. The way the Israelites have survived though in such adversity makes these stories even more interesting. God's relationships with humans in these stories is extremely important. These relationships reinforce most of the basic religious values of our time. The theme is God makes anything possible through faith.
