During the Reconstruction African Americans began to enjoy several right's that had been granted to them by the addition of the Thirteenth Amendment, Fourteenth Amendment and Fifteenth Amendment. First, the struggles between the Populists and Democrats in the election of 1892 made many people angry at blacks and it also resulted in blacks not being able to participate in politics in various areas. The Supreme Court's decision in Plessy v Ferguson triggered several new laws that limited the lives of blacks. Both these things pushed racial segregation to an extreme level.
