Photosynthesis nourishes almost all of the living world directly or indirectly(Campbell 1993). It is the process used by certain organisms to trap light energy and convert it to chemical bond energy, forming organic compounds (Vliet 1993). Chloroplasts are the sites of photosynthesis. All of the green parts of a plant have chloroplasts, but the leaves are the major site of photosynthesis (Campbell 1993).
