The England known today has been put together for thousands of years. The English culture has been made up of many different groups of people who occupied England at different times. Some of these groups arer the Celtics, the Romans, the Anglo-Saxons, the Vikings, and the Normans.

Normandy. After Edward died in 1066 his cousin took over England. This was the end of Anglo-Saxon literature. So throughout time there has been many differnent cultures in England. All during this time in history the first form of poetry was introduced with herioc and Elegiace poetry. The Anglo-Saxon language combined with Latin and French made up our modern English language. The Anglo-Saxon laguage is still a known language. We now know it as middle English.
