find this a good representation of the novel because the opening scenes of the film and novel are totally different, and if you didn't know that they were from the same story, you might think that they were two different stories. The novel describes the scene and lets us get to know the main characters which make us sympathize with them whereas the film goes straight into the action and we sympathize with the girl.
