…destiny. Fate always wins, and no one can in any way beat it. The plague was brought out in Thebes just to show that Oedipus had to find out who killed Laios. The servant survived the murder of Laios so that Oedipus would know who killed Laios. After all of this, Oedipus finds that he was the killer. Would anyone call this coincidence? This is clearly a story showing that no one can "beat" destiny.
