…or DSCH, Shostakovich's initials. These notes give a deep and somber mood to the whole piece of music. Quartet Opus 110 No 8 in C minor appeals to me much more then Quartet Opus 74 No 1 in C major. The dark, somber mood of Shostakovich conveys through the music is so powerful and I think after this performance the audience as well as the musicians felt what Shostakovich had intended us to feel when he wrote this piece.
