My famous person is Mae Jemison. She was an astronaut and a physician. She
was also the first African American woman to enter space.
Mae Jemison was born in Decatur, Alabama on October 17, 1956. She was the
youngest of three children. The family moved to Chicago when Mae was only three years
old. There, her uncle introduced her to the world of science. When Mae was little, she
was interested in anthropology, archeology, and astronomy.
