This critical evaluation is on the play, 'Journey's End' written by R.C Sherriff. In my view, a hero is someone who would risk his or her life or something of value to them to save or help another person. Also, a hero could be look upon as a person greatly regarded for an achievement. These are my personal definitions upon which I will judge Stanhope.

looking at both sides of him. Like his short temper we saw when he had his various argument, and his drink problem, but Stanhope is a good person. As seen during the last scene especially, and the fact he has fought 3 years in the war, this is a great achievement to have with your name. Overall I think Stanhope is a hero, but he does have a few problems that need to be straightened out
