I chose to view the Orson Welles and Roman Polanski versions of Macbeth. They are both very different interpretations of the same story. Not only because they were made almost 30 years apart, but also because of a few choices both directors made that virtually shaped the way Macbeth is portrayed as a character and as a story. Polanski's was obviously big budget quality. The Lady Macbeth suicide scene in Polanski's film is so much more tragic as well. When she kills herself you feel her pain. It is more violent, but something is lost when you see an obvious special effect and she jumps into a fog. I really felt no attachment to the characters in the Welles film. As you can see, I have very strong opinions about the two movies.
