The Grapes of Wrath was written by John Steinbeck in 1939. It was a historical fiction that took place during the Dust Bowl and chronicled one family's courageous journey in search of a better life. The Family that the novel followed was the Joad family. Tom Joad Jr, was the eldest son who was just released from prison on probation for homicide when the Joads embarked on there journey.
