Soon after, in 1967 a referendum was passed, with 90% of Australians voting 'Yes' to include Aborigines in the Australian constitution. This made Aborigines become full Australian citizens and began a new policy of self-management given to the Aborigines. Government policies towards Aborigines changed greatly during 1901 to 1967. From being segregated to becoming full citizens of Australia was an outstanding achievement for such a short period of time.
