Whether a woman is gay or straight, homophobia in sports is a way for society to control her. Society discourages females to involve themselves in any contact sports in fear of them being regarded to as homosexual. The female athletes in so-called "masculine" sports are quickly judged to be abnormal; because they are in a sport society considers masculine people assume something is wrong with them. Concentrating on sexual orientation contradicts women's rights in sports.
