As a result, the Church confirmed the meaning of the real presence and transubstantiation. The Second Vatican Council, commencing in the 1060's, reaffirmed furthermore the Eucharist' meaning and also put much emphasis on the Eucharist as a meal of the community. The council also made many changes to the way the mass was celebrated.
