Hester Prynne in The Scarlet Letter
Hester Prynne, although sometimes perceived otherwise, is known to be one of
the greatest heroines to grace the pages of classic literature. In portraying her as
somewhat of an anti-hero, Hawthorne succeeds in telling us a complex and intriguing tale
of a repressive time, and one woman's undying will to strike out against these repressive
forces.
