…their interpretations of the different characters. In my opinion, Branagh captures the true essence of Hamlet. The emotional confusion and frustration felt by Hamlet can be seen through his acting. Mel Gibson wasn't as true to Shakespeare's Hamlet. He lacked the ability to show the emotion and inner turmoil that Branagh showed and that Shakespeare's Hamlet felt. Although Zeffirelli's Hamlet was quicker, I feel that Jacobi's direction was much more accurate to the original Hamlet.
