When Japan first attacked Pearl Harbor, exactly 60 ago, little was known about the Imperial Army. Their mentality seemed almost non-human. Even while General MacArthur was attempting to maintain America's ground in the Philippines this was so. This book made an impact on me since it is the first non-philosophical book that I have read that actually captivated my imagination and interests simply because of the excellent form of writing. Finally, I salute the survivors, the dead and the heroes of Batan, may their memory live on with us forever
