Far from the Madding Crowd, directed by Nicholas Renton, was a successful presentation of Thomas Hardy's novel. Through use of various film techniques Hardy's characters were allowed to come to life. Casting of actors was excellent, and helped to convey intended emotions from the audience- eg. Dislike of Boldwood, and Hardy's landscape and setting was correctly shown through establishing shots and scenes with the rustics.
