joy, "pay" and "just day" might mean that the narrator didn't want his son to go but he was taken from him "on the just day". God took away the child after "seven yeeres". The child had only been "lent" to the narrator but his "sinne was too much hope of thee" (the narrator's sin expecting too much from the child) and because of this he has to "pay" for those "seven yeeres" of "joy".
