During the Khmer Rouge regime, which occurred from 1975-1979, 2 million people died. The Khmer Rouge watched over people constantly making sure that they did everything right. All sick patients in the hospitals were left there to die, and if they found an educated person, they would first make them confess and later kill them. …government. From 1995 -1996, the Khmer Rouge contained many weary soldiers and they were tired of fighting. Slowly, they started losing more and more soldiers. By 1998, there were few generals in the western jungles, but not nearly as many as there were 20 years ago. Sadly, the Khmer Rouge still has an effect on Cambodia today.
