The American society has oppressed the black culture and society since the first slave was dragged onto American soil. Hollywood first embraced this oppressed image and depicted it on film. Unfortunately, I do not feel that we have progress completely beyond most of the stereotypes. Today's Hollywood is still focused on making money. And to do so, Hollywood is willing to depict any image that might make money. Luckily, I feel that most people in today's society are better-informed viewers. Most people are aware of the stereotyping that exists. Only after Hollywood can advance beyond race, beyond ethnicity will film be totally free of stereotypes.
