Binge drinking on college campuses is a commonly over looked problem. The Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention conducted a survey in 1999 to study this problem. Approximately 17,600 students attending 140 four-year colleges and universities returned the surveys. According to the study, the overall total of college binge drinkers was 44 percent.
