The Roman Empire was once the super power of the earth. The king or emperor of Rome basically held all the power in the world in the palm of his hands. Many people would do anything to have this absolute power and prestige. In fact many people were betrayed and murdered for this power. In both the film Gladiator and the play Julius Caesar, betrayal is shown at its worst.
