Aside from residing in unlike environments, Sir Gawain is more humble regarding his great deeds compared to Beowulf. The ideals embodied by both these characters are ventured out mainly due to how people want them to behave and how doing so will benefit them in the future. Their great heroic deeds being told from one generation to another is one such benefit.
