But what we see here in Virginia in the late 17th century, around Bacon's Rebellion, is that freedom and slavery were created at the same moment. This revolutionary event was not only a prologue to the American Revolution but also influenced governmental procedures and foreign policies throughout the world, thus becoming the most significant event leading towards modern representative democracy.
