The cost of keeping a prisoner alive in jail till he dies of natural causes is cheaper than the cost of execution. In the time the prisoner is in jail he can be used to productively in society while staying separated from society. Evidence may also arise that proves a prisoner innocent. I can only conclude that the only reason the death penalty is still in place today is because of man's need for revenge
