The Pieta
Michelangelo is quite possibly the greatest artist of the high Renaissance. His works are known by people all over the world today. You may have heard of the term pieta; this refers to a work showing Mary mourning over the body of Christ. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of works that depict this theme, but none are more famous than Michelangelo's. He chose to use white Carrara marble to create this sculpture.

I find something new that I hadn't noticed before. In time, this work becomes better; all the effort that was put into it can be seen for what it was intended to be, but this can only happen in time. As with all mediums of art, they can be viewed again and again without ever becoming boring; in fact, they can be even more exciting as you dig deeper into the world of the artist.
